Plastica Capilar aftercare: what to do in the first 72 hours

We’ve seen true night-and-day hair changes, like hair going silky and a scalp looking spotless and smooth after a service. The most important rule after Plastica Capilar is simple: keep your hair dry and leave it alone for the first 48 to 72 hours. No washing, no sweaty workouts, no ponytails, no clips. That quiet window is what helps your smoothing result set and stay glossy.
The first 24 to 48 hours: dry hair, zero dents, zero drama
Right after Plastica Capilar, think “hands off.” We generally recommend you don’t wet your hair at all for 48 to 72 hours. Water, steam, and sweat can mess with that smooth finish before it fully sets.
Non-negotiable for 48 to 72 hours: don’t wet, tie, clip, pin, or tuck your hair behind your ears tightly. Anything that creates a bend can leave a dent.
If you’re in Huntington Beach, plan around sweat and coastal weather
Downtown Huntington Beach is made for walking, but fresh smoothing plus sun and sweat don’t mix well in the first couple of days. If you’re meeting friends near Main Street or the Pier, keep it easy. A calm stroll is fine. Skip anything that gets your scalp damp.
And yes, we love a post-appointment plan. We often suggest booking a morning or early-evening slot so you can enjoy the Main Street Pier District without baking in midday sun right after your service.
Days 3 to 7: keep it smooth, keep it shiny, skip the beach water
Once you’re past that 72-hour mark, you can get back to normal life, but we still want you protecting the result. Plastica Capilar is a deep hair alignment treatment designed to leave your strands silky smooth and frizz-free, providing long-lasting results for up to 3 months. The first week is where you either stretch that timeline or accidentally shorten it.
Swimming and salt air: give it 7 to 10 days
We recommend skipping pools, ocean water, and hot tubs for 7 to 10 days. Chlorine and salt are rough on freshly treated hair. And in Huntington Beach, the coastal sun and salt air can sneak up on you even if you’re not swimming.
- Beach day but no swimming? Keep hair loosely down, and consider a lightweight protective serum on the lengths before you go.
- Accidentally got ocean spray? Rinse with fresh water as soon as you can and smooth a small amount of protective serum through mid-lengths and ends.
- Trying to keep the shine? Hold off on high-heat tools for the first week when you can. Low heat tends to be plenty.
Product rules we actually care about: sulfate-free shampoo and lightweight leave-ins
The biggest product switch after Plastica Capilar is your cleanser. Go sulfate-free and gentle. Skip clarifying shampoos for now. They’re great when you need a reset, but they can pull your smoothing result faster than you want.
Our easy routine for the first week:
- Sulfate-free shampoo, focused on the scalp, not aggressive scrubbing through the ends.
- A lightweight, alcohol-free leave-in or serum on mid-lengths and ends, especially if you’re around sun and salt air.
- Keep styling simple. Loose hair, soft brush, and no tight elastics that crease.
If you’re picky about products, we get it. We’re used to answering the “will this mess up my result?” question, and we’ll point you to options that keep hair smooth without weighing it down.
If something goes sideways in the first 72 hours, do this next
Life happens. Foggy morning walks, a surprise drizzle, a workout you forgot was on the calendar. If your hair gets damp within the first 72 hours, don’t panic and don’t start scrubbing.
Quick recovery plan (keep it gentle)
- Gently pat the hair with a microfiber towel. No rough towel twisting.
- Let it air-dry with your hair worn loose. Avoid tucking or clipping it back while it dries.
- Smooth a tiny amount of protective serum through the lengths if you have one that’s lightweight and not alcohol-heavy.
- Text or call us for a quick plan. We’d rather help you fix it fast than have you guess.
A quick heads-up: if you notice a crease or a weird bend because your hair got tied back too soon, reach out. We’ll talk you through next steps so it doesn’t turn into a bigger issue.
